Your piercing is healing and it hurts? 10 tips

If you have a healing piercing and it still hurts, here are 10 tips to help it heal.

If you are in the healing phase of a piercing and are still experiencing discomfort, it is crucial to pay special attention to care to ensure proper recovery. Here are 10 tips to help relieve pain and prevent complications during this critical period:

  1. Cleanliness Regular: Keep your piercing clean by cleaning it daily according to the instructions given to you by your piercer. This will help prevent infection and speed up the healing process.
  2. Don't Touch with Unclean Hands: Avoid touching your piercing with dirty hands to prevent the introduction of bacteria. Wash your hands thoroughly before handling it.
  3. Loose-fitting clothing: Wear loose-fitting, breathable clothing to avoid friction with the piercing. Friction can cause irritation and delay healing.
  4. Avoid Irritating Substances: Keep irritants such as perfumes, lotions and chemicals away from the piercing area, as they can cause discomfort.
  5. Cold compresses: Apply cold compresses to reduce swelling and relieve pain. Do not apply ice directly to the piercing.

          6. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs): Check with your doctor to see if you can take NSAIDs, such as ibuprofen, to reduce inflammation and pain.

         7. Rest and Avoid Stress: Give your body time to rest and avoid stress, as these conditions can negatively affect the healing process. If your ear piercing is in your ear, be very careful when sleeping and don't squash it, try to sleep without damaging your piercing.

8Special Oral Care: If your piercing is in the oral area, pay special attention to oral hygiene. Avoid irritating foods.

9.Don't Change Jewellery Prematurely: Wait until the piercing is fully healed before changing the jewellery. Doing so before can lead to irritation and complications.

        10. Consultation with a professional: If pain persists or you notice signs of infection, consult a professional piercer or physician for appropriate guidance and treatment.

By following these tips, you can improve your piercing healing experience and minimise discomfort. Remember that everyone is different, so listen to your body and seek professional help if necessary.
